Suspect escapes Wendover police car by climbing out window

WEST WENDOVER, Nev. — A Salt Lake City man who briefly escaped from Nevada police by climbing through a patrol car window is behind bars in West Wendover on a series of drug and escape charges.

Police started pursuing 24-year-old John A. Ramirez-Juarez Monday morning after he ran a stop sign on Wendover Boulevard.

He eventually pulled into a casino parking lot, was handcuffed and placed in the police car.

However, police say he took advantage of an unlocked window and climbed through back onto the street before officers apprehended him again.

WENDOVER — Authorities say four people are dead after a small plane crash at Wendover Airport in northwest Utah along the Nevada border.

Korean War-era aircraft reported missing in Nevada

WENDOVER -- Authorities are searching in snowy weather for a 1952 Korean War-era airplane that disappeared after taking off for Idaho Falls, Idaho, from Wendover on the Nevada-Utah state line.

Classmate arrested in death of popular West Wendover girl

ELKO, Nev.  -- Authorities in eastern Nevada say the suspect they've arrested in the death of a 16-year-old girl is a senior at West Wendover High School and a former classmate of the victim.

Cause of buried Wendover girl's death investigated

WENDOVER -- A sheriff's investigator says a medical examiner will determine the cause of death of a teenage Nevada girl whose body was found in a shallow grave in a remote desert area near the Utah border.

Elko County sheriff's detective Cpl. Jim Carpenter tells the Elko Daily Free Press the body identified as 16-year-old Micaela "Mickey" Costanzo will be examined Monday by the Washoe County medical examiner.

West Wendover police and Elko County sheriff's deputies are investigating after the body was found Saturday about five miles west of West Wendover.

WENDOVER -- Police say the search for a missing West Wendover girl has been suspended after discovery of what appears to be a shallow grave.

Faulty gas pedal blamed in Toyota wreck

SALT LAKE CITY -- Troopers announced Monday that they were blaming the deadly crash of a Toyota Camry in western Utah on a sticky gas pedal, the same problem that led the world's largest automaker to recall the car for repairs early this year.
