Allstate recognizes West Haven agent

WEST HAVEN — Allstate Insurance Company has named agency owner Chuck Eagleston a 2013 Top Agency in Allstate Business Insurance sales.

The award recognizes Eagleston for top sales in writing business insurance and for setting high standards in serving the protection needs of fellow business owners.

West Haven ready for Heritage Days

WEST HAVEN — The city will host its 19th annual West Haven Heritage Days this week.

Festivities begin Thursday evening in West Haven’s Country Park, 2850 W. 3300 South. Activities include a performance by Ophir Creek; Mutton Bustin’; a youth rodeo; and at dark, the movie “Despicable Me” will be shown in the park.

Friday’s activities include a quilt show; all-star softball; bike ride; baby contest; ATV rodeo; car show; and at 6 p.m., the Rough Stock concert.

Weber School District teacher to end 38-year career

WEST HAVEN — The students Weber School District teacher Lynette Grow first taught when she began teaching in 1975 are now in their mid-40s. That thought humbles Grow, who has been teaching third- and fourth-graders for 38 years now.

Grow figures she has taught more than 1,000 students now.

“It brings a huge smile to my face to think I had a part of their learning and growing up, and hopefully I set them on the right path,” said Grow, who at age 59 has opted to close her classroom door for the final time and retire at the end of this school year.

Macey Shae Steckelberg, 21, died Monday, May 13, 2013.
