Hay barn burns to the ground in West Warren

A hay barn in West Warren burned to the ground Friday afternoon.

Weber County dispatchers got a call about 4 p.m. Friday that a barn in the backyard of a house at 6207 W. 1950 North was on fire.

Fire crews from three Weber Fire District stations responded to the call, but firefighters could not save the barn. It and the hay burned quickly, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther.

Horse neglect investigated in West Warren

Weber County Animal Services is investigating a case of neglect of horses on a property in West Warren.

Weber County Animal Services Director Lt. Chad Ferrin said Weber-Morgan Health Department and Weber County Planning Department are also involved in the case.

Tuesday fire was controlled burn

WEST WARREN -- The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands permitted a controlled burn in western Weber County on Tuesday.

The fire was an agricultural burn to remove a stubble field so a farmer can plant new crop, said Dave Vickers, fire warden for Weber and Davis counties. The fire produced a large column of white smoke that could be seen across the county.
