Higher beef prices help Utah ranchers

WILLARD -- When the price of a corral full of young heifers ended at $1.82 a pound, the owner of the Anderson Livestock Auctions shook his head and said, "That's a lot of money."

Arthur L. Edmondson, 87, of Willard, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at his son's home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 East, in Brigham City, Utah. Thousands of people, flags line officer's funeral procession route

OGDEN -- Solemn firefighters in turnout gear lined both sides of Washington Boulevard south of 25th Street on Wednesday afternoon and sharply saluted the casket of slain Ogden Police Officer Jared Francom as it passed, carried by an Ogden fire engine.

Willard man charged with animal crime

WILLARD -- Joel R. Murray, 54, was booked into Weber County Jail on Thursday afternoon on a charge of wanton destruction of protected wildlife.

Watch for icy road conditions

OGDEN — If commuters did not like the road conditions Wednesday, today will do little to brighten their spirits.

Icy conditions contributed to numerous traffic accidents throughout the Top of Utah on Wednesday.

UDOT seeking federal grants for Weber, Box Elder roads

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Department of Transportation hopes federal money will benefit a few Top of Utah construction projects in 2012.

At Thursday's Utah Transportation Commission meeting in Salt Lake City, the state announced it is seeking money from the Federal Highway Administration to complete several projects next year that otherwise will have to wait.

Rescued hunter had diabetic issues

WILLARD -- A sick, wet dog and a man with issues stemming from diabetes caused three hunters from Weber County to need rescuing from the Harold Crane Water Fowl Management area of Willard Bay late Saturday night.

The hunter with diabetes could not continue on his own, Box Elder County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Potter said. To compound their problems, one of their dogs became sick.

No injuries in two-vehicle crash

WILLARD -- Two vehicles crashed into each other Saturday night on Interstate 15.
