BOUNTIFUL — A woman is undergoing a psychological evaluation after a slow-moving car chase that started at 1:17 a.m. Monday.

A Davis County sheriff’s deputy spotted the woman traveling south on Interstate 15 near Bountiful at about 30 mph, said Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sue Poulsen.

WOODS CROSS -- Officials are investigating why three tanker cars derailed at Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions Inc. on Wednesday afternoon.

South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jim Rampton said the train derailment happened on the company's property at about 1100 West and 1750 South, not on the main rail.

Three I-15 bridges to be replaced at a cost of $20 million

BOUNTIFUL -- The state plans to replace three bridges along Interstate 15 in Davis County -- but officials say the trick will be doing it with as little impact as possible.

At a Utah Transportation Commission meeting last week, Utah Department of Transportation officials said plans are in the works to perform major bridge deck replacements along I-15 at 500 South in Bountiful and 1500 South and 2600 South in Woods Cross.

WOODS CROSS -- The local economy, taxes and maintaining government services are at the forefront of this year's Woods Cross City Council race.

Five candidates are vying for the three open four-year seats on the city council in the Nov. 8 municipal election.

The field of candidates consists of incumbents David Hill, 52, Jill Evans, 44, and Rick Earnshaw, 58, and challengers Ryan Larsen, 34, and Push Walia, 49.

‘Spook-Tacular’ set for Saturday in Bountiful

BOUNTIFUL — A Halloween activity is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at South Davis Recreation Center.

The “Spook-Tacular” will include a canoe ride through a haunted swamp, a walk through the haunted locker room, carnival games, a trick-or-treat alley, a goblin grub and spooky crafts.

Each activity requires tickets, and each ticket is 50 cents.

The center, 550 N. 200 West, is a consolidated facility for residents of Bountiful, Centerville, Woods Cross, West Bountiful and North Salt Lake. Call 298-6220 for more details.
