KAYSVILLE -- Bountiful resident Kara Arnold captured the title of Miss Davis County at the county's scholarship pageant for 2011-12 and will now compete for Miss Utah.
The 21-year-old University of Utah student will now compete in the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant to be held in June of 2012, said Natalie Murray, Davis pageant director.
Arnold was one of nine contestants who competed in the pageant held Saturday at Davis High School in Kaysville. Between 150 to 200 people attended the event.
"The Miss Davis County Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant," Murray said.
Arnold is the daughter of Jerry and Julie Arnold, of Bountiful. She is studying biochemistry and pre-med at the U of U. Her community service platform is "Discover Your Potential Through Science and Math," Murray said.
Those capturing Miss Davis County first and second attendant respectively were Kennedy Wilkes, of Kaysville, and Bailey Johnson, of Syracuse.
The Miss Davis County Outstanding Teen Pageant, which featured six younger contestants, was also held Saturday at Davis High prior to the Miss Davis County Pageant.
Capturing "outstanding teen" was Janci Hamblin, of Syracuse, with the first and second attendant being Ashlie Albrecht, of Kaysville, and Ciara Hansen, of Layton, respectively.
The winner of outstanding teen pageant will compete in the Miss Utah Outstanding Teen Pageant to be held in October of 2011.
