Man arrested after short chase in Ogden

OGDEN -- A man was arrested Monday after police say he led police on a short chase after brandishing a weapon.

Jerone Nash, 33, was booked into Weber County Jail on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a restricted person and failure to appear.

Lt. Danielle Croyle said Nash was near the 2400 block of Van Buren Avenue around 2:10 p.m. Monday. Police were called to the scene after reports of a man with a gun in the area.

"There was a verbal altercation that took place with the possibility of brandishing a weapon," Croyle said.

When officers arrived, a car took off from the scene. Croyle said a short chase ensued before Nash jumped from the vehicle. Nash was located and interviewed by gang unit officers, Croyle said, who found the gun at the end of a nearby driveway.
