Registration begins for special-needs swim program

CLEARFIELD -- The special-needs aquatics program at Clearfield Aquatic Center will be held on Fridays, beginning Aug. 5. The program is taught by a behavioral specialist who also maintains a water safety instructor certification to ensure ongoing quality intervention and skill development.

Each class incorporates both behavioral modification techniques and swim lessons to provide a well-rounded approach to working with individuals who have special needs. Having the parent/guardian in the water provides necessary safety and teaches life skills that will be beneficial in a variety of settings.

Special Needs Parent and Child Aquatics is a four-week program that will run through Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 9:40 a.m., with additional sessions at 9:45 a.m. to 10:25 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Registration is at the aquatic center, 825 S. State St., or online at www.reconline.org. Registration may also be done by phone at 801-525-2640.

Cost to participate in the course is $60 per resident or $65 per nonresident.
