ROY -- In a year when many municipalities are canceling their pageants, the Miss Roy pageant has bigger numbers than it has had in years with 16 competitors.
The pageant will be held at Roy High School at 7 p.m. July 30. Tickets can be bought in advance at Roy City offices, 5051 S. 1900 West at $8 for adults and $6 for youths ages 3 to 10. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 for adults and $8 for youths. Ages 2 and under are free.
Mercedes Dritlein is the 19-year-old daughter of Eric and Pet Speer. She graduated Roy High School in 2010 and currently attends Weber State University. She will be performing a Thai dance at the competition.
Camille Mindrum is the 18-year-old daughter of Amy and Brian Mindrum. She graduated from Roy High School in May with honors and both concurrent and AP college credit. She plans on attending Weber State University this fall to possibly pursue a career in engineering.
Kaitlyn Frayser is 18 years old and recently graduated from Roy High School, where she was a three-year member of the Roy High cheer squad. In the fall, she will attend Weber State University. For her talent, she will perform a hand bell solo. She is the daughter of PJay and Lauri Frayser.
Marina Saviano is the 18-year-old daughter of Dwayne and Teresa Saviano. She graduated from Roy High School and participated in chamber and Royal Choir. Her talent will be playing the piano, which she has played since she was 5.
Shelby Hill is the 18-year-old daughter of Trenton and Joni Hill. She graduated with honors from Roy High. For her talent, she will perform a lyrical dance. She will attend the OWATC cosmetology school this fall.
Kelsie Jo Wahlstrom is the 20-year-old daughter of David and Shelly Wahlstrom. She is a graduate of Roy High School Class of 2010. For her talent she will perform an alto sax solo. She is attending OWATC to certify in culinary arts.
Kylee South is the daughter of Joe and Laura South. She is a senior at Roy High. After graduation, she will pursue her degree in law. For her talent, she will perform "God Bless the USA" on the piano.
Kortney Hoopes is the 17-year-old daughter of Derek and Robin Hoopes. She will be a senior at Roy High school and in the graduating class of 2012. She will perform a jazz/lyrical dance routine she choreographed herself.
Melina Rubio is 17 years old, and the daughter of Martha and Esteban Rubio. She graduated from Roy High School class of 2011. She plans to attend Weber State University.
Kara Staley is the 17-year-old daughter of Randy and Debbie Staley. She attends Roy High School and will be a senior this year. She was on the Roy High soccer team for two years.
Paige Redford is the 19-year-old daughter of Mark and Tracy Redford. She is a graduate of Roy High. For her talent she will perform a dance that she has choreographed herself. She is currently attending Weber State University finishing up her generals.
Patricia Robello is the 18-year-old daughter of Indira and Patrick Robello. She has graduated from Roy High in 2010. She will perform a violin solo. Patricia is attending Weber State University to pursue her dream to become a medical physician.
Kelsi Morrell is the 19-year-old daughter of Amy Dunn and Bill Morrell. In 2010 she graduated from Roy High. She will perform a lyrical dance she choreographed herself. She plans to attend Weber State University, studying Dance and Interior Design.
Angela Owen is 18 years old, graduated from Roy High School and will attend the University of Utah. She loves music and plays many instruments including the ukulele, which will be part of her talent. Angela is the daughter of Joseph and Cynthia Owen.
Lizzy Pattillo is the 17-year-old daughter of Aaron and Veralynn Pattillo. She's a senior at Roy High. She is currently looking to further her education, particularly in the performing arts and creative writing fields.
Harmony Fehr is the 19-year-old daughter of Bradley and Soundra Fehr. She is a graduate of Roy High School. For her talent she will perform a lyrical dance routine. She has completed a year at WSU.
