OGDEN -- Women and young women from all Christian denominations in the Top of Utah are invited to attend an upcoming retreat sponsored by the Intermountain General Baptist Convention Sept. 30 through Oct. 1 in Midway.
"Our primary focus is to host a retreat for women of all ages and young women, ages 13-18, whereby they can come together in genuine fellowship, praise and worship regardless on their denomination," said Lillie Holman, the convention's women's auxiliary president.
"A special invitation is extended to women and young women who do not currently have a church affiliation and are seeking to connect with a group of Christian women from various demographic, economic, educational and ethnic/cultural backgrounds," Holman said. "We'd love to meet and fellowship with you. Additionally, if a woman is unable to attend, we ask that she consider sponsoring a family member, co-worker or friend to attend."
Registration now is being accepted for the event which starts at 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Homestead Resort in Midway.
"We have prayerfully chosen the theme, 'Christian Women Living Victoriously' with the scripture focus of Psalm 20," states an invitation letter organizers have written about the event.
The keynote speaker will be Hugh Dell Gatewood, national president of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Women's Auxiliary.
"This year's retreat will also feature various workshop sessions and activities designed to better equip us to understand who God has purposed us to be, the authority we possess as committed women of God, and numerous opportunities to fellowship, pray and experience the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit," states the letter.
Participants will have a choice of four Friday afternoon sessions. They are: Creating a Beautiful You -- Inside and Out, Dealing with Women's Health Issues, Praising God Through Your Dance and a Touching God Nature Walk.
Friday evening workshops will be: Get Your Mind Right; Changing Your Point of View, Shake It Loose and Let It Go; Identifying Current Things That are Holding You Down, Your Past is Your Past -- Leave It There!; Forgiving Yourself and Others and a young women's group Cross Talk; What Do You Need to Give to God?
Saturday morning workshops will include: Discovering the Strength Within, Blessed and Highly Favored, God's Design for Family and a young women's group on Discovering the Strength Within.
Later morning workshops will include True Worshippers, Praising God in the Middle of a Storm, Radical Blind Faith and a young women's group on Radical Blind Faith.
Cost of the event is $150, which includes workshop session materials, hotel room, Friday evening dinner and Saturday morning full breakfast meals and a departure "to go" snack.
Registration is due by Aug. 31.
