CLEARFIELD -- Southbound traffic on Interstate 15 slowed to a crawl after a car and motorcycle collided around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday.
A four-door Cadillac was traveling south when the 39-year-old driver had to suddenly slam on his brakes to avoid hitting a car, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Jones. The sudden stop caused him to spin out.
He wound up facing the opposite direction and struck a motorcycle that had been behind him. The 61-year-old motorcyclist quickly hopped off his ride and ran out of traffic to avoid getting hit by any more cars, Jones said.
"It was quick thinking, kind of action-movie almost," Jones said.
The driver of the Cadillac was cited for unsafe lane travel. The motorcyclist was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital for what seemed to be a bruised hip, Jones said.
Traffic was already congested before the accident, but it slowed and backed up at least as far as Weber County until emergency responders cleared the scene around
