Intoxicated boy found asleep in stranger's bed

LAYTON — Police are reminding residents to lock their windows and doors, including garage doors, before they go to sleep or leave their homes, after one homeowner found an intoxicated 15-year-old boy in their home.

Layton police were called to a residential burglary after homeowners found the teenager asleep in the same bed as their 9-year-old daughter. The girl was unharmed and the homeowners did not know the teenager.

Police said the boy climbed a six-foot vinyl fence to get into the backyard, removed the screen from a main level window and entered the residence. He then went into the girl’s bedroom.

He has been arrested for criminal justice, a class A misdemeanor, and intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.

Police are not releasing the name of the teenager or the girl.
