Inmate who refused to ID himself set for release

PROVO -- An inmate who baffled authorities for weeks by refusing to identify himself is set to be released from jail.

Sixty-one-year-old Philip Todd Beavers was booked into the Utah County jail as "John Doe" on July 1 after being arrested for trespassing in the Provo Police Department parking garage. He refused to tell authorities who he was, prompting them to reach out to the public for help.

Last week, Beaver's brother identified him as a man missing from Farmington, N.M. Authorities say Beavers still hasn't explained why he refused to identify himself.

They Beavers was sentenced Monday to time served. He was expected to be released from jail later in the day.

Authorities say Beavers was once employed as a pharmacist in New Mexico, but lost his job.
