In reference to the July 30 news article, "Lawsuit filed on behalf of Kaysville group" and Mayor Hiatt's statement: "The lawsuit filed by Mr. Lenz and Ms. Porter is disappointing both because of their lack of accountability and for the continued costs being shouldered by the citizens of Kaysville city. . . (they) may not like how the law is written, the law must be followed."
Kaysville City is responsible for running up a $9,040.00 price tag in attorney's fees to stop our group from having three initiatives put on the November ballot. It was against the law for Kaysville to try to stop this effort through the use of delaying tactics by having the city attorney review our initiatives. Kaysville did not have the authority and they violated the state law.
Mayor Hiatt, you 'may not like how the law is written, but the law must be followed.'
