SOUTH OGDEN -- The community is invited to join forces nationwide for for the "28th annual National Night Out" crime and drug prevention event tonight.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime -- and drug prevention -- awareness; generate support for local anti-crime efforts; strengthen police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., residents across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police and firefighters.
South Odgen residents will meet at the 40th Street Park (east of the South Ogden police and Ffre departments) for an evening of fun and learning. Numerous activities are planned.
