ATV rider dies after Honeyville accident

BRIGHAM CITY -- A 70-year-old man died at Brigham City Community Hospital Wednesday night after an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Law enforcement is still in the process of notifying the man's family, so his name is not expected to be released until Friday.

The man was riding an ATV near a silage pit, where fertilizer is kept, near his house at 6300 North on Highway 38 in Honeyville, according to the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office. At 8 p.m., he fell about 16 feet into the pit. The ATV landed on top of him.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene, but diverted to the hospital instead as an ambulance rushed him there. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:50 p.m.
