Road rage results in stabbing incident in Centerville

CENTERVILLE — Police are questioning a man abaout a stabbing that occured following a road rage incident.

Centerville Police Lt. Paul Child said Lakeview Hospital emergency personnel called police at 12:31 p.m. on Thursday after a man came to the hospital with a stab wound.

“It started on Interstate 15,” Child said.

The man who was stabbed was upset by something that another driver did and chased down the vehicle, which was a boxed utility truck.

He confronted the driver and his passenger in the parking lot of Ray’s Muffler Service on Parrish Lane in Centerville.

“During the confrontation, the driver of the boxed truck pulled out a long, narrow screwdriver and stabbed the other person,” Child said.

The screwdriver penetrated the man’s abdomen about an inch. The driver in the boxed truck and his passenger took off and the man, who was stabbed, drove himself to the hospital.

Several people witnessed the incident and gave police enough of a description of the truck that police were able to locate the driver and his passenger in Woods Cross.

Police arrested the driver and he is currently at the police station being questioned, Child said.

“The driver is claiming self-defense,” Child said.

Police have not yet released the name of the man who was stabbed or the man who was arrested.
