Skies above Hill Air Force Base to be busy this month

CLEARFIELD -- Residents around Hill Air Force Base may notice an increase in aircraft arrivals and departures during the next few weeks.

From Aug. 5 to Aug. 26, the 86th and 83rd Fighter Weapons Squadrons will conduct the U.S. Air Force Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Air Weapons System Evaluation Program known as Combat Hammer.

During the three-week event, four units will deploy to Hill and two units will travel directly to the Utah Test and Training Range to drop munitions in realistic combat scenarios. With support from the 388th Range Squadron, 86th FWS Airmen will collect and analyze data on how these precision weapons perform and their suitability for use in combat.

Questions may be directed to 388th Fighter Wing Public Affairs at 801-777-3200.
