City officials tour development site

LAYTON -- City officials recently joined they city's development consultants on a field trip to Daybreak.

The point of the excursion was to gather ideas on what could be done as the city develops a piece of land along Hill Field Road between 2200 West and 2700 West.

Mayor Steve Curtis said the trip south was very beneficial.

"It helped us understand better visually what could transpire with the development of west Layton," he said. "It helped us understand what things would be more or less desirable."

Layton city and the consulting firm PlaceMakers have combined forces to develop the 140 acres, known as the West Layton Village project. The group held public meetings in January to gather ideas. The plan is to have single-family homes, townhouses/condos and businesses all together in the development.
