OGDEN -- Ogden police are continuing to investigate the July 13 slaying of a man at a home on 29th Street near Adams Avenue.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting death of Tony Lamont Hairston, a 42-year-old transient who had been frequenting the home.
Police are continuing to interview witnesses, identifying individuals who might have been at the house and reviewing physical evidence from the crime scene, said Ogden Police Lt. Mike Ashment.
"Every crime is different," he said. "We are dealing with the hand we are dealt."
The homicide is the first in Ogden this year.
A person called dispatchers from the home at 11:42 p.m. July 13 to report the shooting, Ashment has said.
When police arrived, Hairston, who had been shot, was found dead on the porch.
Neighbors told police the victim was on the porch when he was approached by four black men, Ashment has said.
They reported hearing a gunshot and saw a group of men run from the area. Two of the men reportedly left in a car, and two were on foot.
It doesn't appear that the homicide was random, and it seems to be tied to criminal activity associated with the home where the killing occurred, Ashment has said.
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Ogden police at 801-629-8228.
