SANDY - - The Salt Lake Region Small Business Development Center, the Utah State Tax Commission and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are offering free, one day workshops at the Salt Lake Community College, Miller Campus, 9750 South 300 West, in Sandy.
These workshops are beneficial for both new businesses and existing businesses. The workshops will offer information on employment taxes, types of businesses and their tax treatment and more.
The Employment Tax Workshop is for small businesses that have employees or plan to have employees. Regulatory and tax filing requirements on federal and State of Utah tax issues will be discussed. This workshop will be offered Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Aug. 18, Sept. 22, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17.
The Choosing a Business Entity Workshop addresses the legal responsibilities associated with each type of business entity. In addition, SBDC will provide a summary of the services available to small business owners. This workshop will be offered Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to noon, on Sept. 8 and Nov. 10.
The Entity Workshops provides information on specific tax situations associated with the following four entities; a sole proprietorship, a partnership, a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) and a sub-chapter S corporation. Entity workshops are on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Information on LLC's will be offered on Sept. 1 and information on the Sole Proprietorship will be offered on Oct. 6.
