The seventh annual Company Grade Officers Committee golf tournament raised almost $6,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties.
The tournament, held July 8 at Hubbard Golf Course, offered non-military citizens the chance to golf on an otherwise restricted course and at the same time support Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds from the tournament will directly support a new project -- a home being built at 706 21st St., Ogden.
Habitat for Humanity helps low-income families build and buy their own homes. Partner families must meet certain income requirements and must be willing to perform sweat equity to help build their own homes and/or the homes of others. Partner families are also required to participate in budgeting workshops designed to help them become more successful homeowners. Once the homes are completed, they are sold to the partner families at a no-profit price with a no-interest loan at affordable monthly payments.
