* California author Jacqueline Berger reads from and signs "Loves, Lies, and Tears" (Roserita Books, $24.95) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The King's English Bookshop, 1511 S. 1500 East, Salt Lake City. The book is the second volume in a collection of inspirational biographies of the First Ladies -- including Ellen Wilson and Jacqueline Kennedy -- and the life lessons Berger learned from each woman.

* Layton author Darci Mock will sign copies of her children's book "I Can Be Anything" (Tate Publishing, $8.99) 1 p.m. Saturday at Three Little Monkeys, 135 N. 500 West, Bountiful, and 1-3 p.m. Aug. 27 at Hastings, 340 E. 525 North Harrisville. The book is told through the eyes of a little girl who uses a little imagination and some help from friends and family to become a doctor, a teacher, a cook, a hairstylist, and more. This is a free event.

* Utah authors Allen Richardson and Owen Richardson will discuss and sign copies of their novel based on a true story, "Resurrection At Lanta Bur" (Tate Publishing, $21.99), 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at Hastings, 340 E. 525 North, Harrisville. This is a free event.
