Police end standoff, subdue man with Taser gun

MILLCREEK -- Authorities say they were able to end a four-hour standoff in Millcreek by subduing a 42-year-old man with a Taser.

Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal says the standoff ended just before 6 p.m. Monday when the man came onto his porch. Hoyal says a Taser was used because the man was non-compliant.

SWAT officers and negotiators were called to the scene after relatives reported the man showed up at their home up distraught and had refused to answer the door. They believed there were weapons inside.

Hoyal says the man did not have a hostage and was communicating by phone. No shots were fired.

Some houses in the area were evacuated after authorities arrived at the scene about 1:45 p.m. Monday.
