Woman in stand-off faces drug charge

OGDEN -- Veronica Jensen was booked into jail Wednesday evening after skipping her scheduled court dates for a drug charge.

Jensen was a hostage in a stand-off in a motel in June between Ogden SWAT and Jason Valdez, who was wanted on a drug-related charge. The stand-off ended when SWAT team members stormed the motel and Valdez shot himself. He was arrested upon his release from the hospital.

Jensen had been arrested on drug charges in May. Her case was diverted to 2nd District Felony Drug Court in Ogden, but she failed to appeaer for her July 26 drug court session and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She called a court official shortly after missing that session to say she would appear Aug. 2, but she also failed to appear then.

Jensen finally appeared in court Tuesday, according to court documents. After being questioned about her numerous failures to appear, Jensen was remanded into custody and booked into Weber County Jail without bail.
