SALT LAKE CITY -- A Duchesne County man is facing a murder charge after allegedly stabbing his wife to death and then attempting suicide.
Court papers filed in 8th District Court Wednesday charge 75-year-old Charles Edward Dodd with one count of first-degree felony murder.
If convicted, he faces a life prison term.
County sheriff's Lt. Travis Tucker tells KTVX of Salt Lake City (http://bit.ly/nEpVJs) 82-year-old Mary Ratliff was found dead in her home from apparent stab wounds.
Officers also found Dodd unconscious with stab wounds to his stomach.
Police went to the home after a tip from a family friend.
Tucker says notes at the scene lead investigators to believe Dodd intended to kill his wife and himself.
Dodd remains hospitalized.
Court records show a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
