Beaver County raid turns up $12M in pot plants

BEAVER -- A series of southern Utah pot busts continues after Beaver County authorities say they've seized more than 8,000 marijuana plants worth about $12 million dollars.

KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/qNmji2 ) Thursday's takedown in Beaver Canyon, near the Mahogony Cove campground, is the second major raid in two days in Utah.

Sheriff's deputies say they have been monitoring the farm for several weeks.

They also destroyed an elaborate setup that included a power source and communication devices.

Authorities did not find the growers. They say they're likely tied to a Mexican drug cartel and other growing operations in southern Utah and Nevada.
