SALT LAKE CITY -- A judge has ordered a West Valley City man to serve up to 30 years in prison for the October death of his father.
William Chad Seager pleaded guilty to second-degree felony counts of manslaughter, robbery and obstruction of justice in April.
On Monday 3rd District Judge Robert Faust ordered terms of one to 15 years in prison for each offense. Faust ordered the terms for the manslaughter and robbery charges served consecutively.
The 31-year-old Seager called police on Oct. 31 to report that he had found his 58-year-old father, William M. Seager, dead on the floor with a garbage bag over his head.
Investigators say the son later said he pushed his father during an argument the day before, and his father suffered a head injury when he fell.
