SALT LAKE CITY -- Government officials and business leaders will discuss ways to help unemployed military veterans during a forum in downtown Salt Lake City.
The Utah National Guard says the Military and Veterans Employment Summit Thursday will focus on the 23 percent unemployment rate among younger veterans.
Colonel David Sutherland, Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be among the summit participants.
Sutherland has traveled to every state and more than 250 communities over the course of two years as part of the Pentagon's Warrior and Family Support program.
Gov. Gary Herbert, Lt. Gov. Greg Bell and unemployed veterans will join Sutherland on the panel.
