Man arrested after 6-hour SWAT standoff in Sandy

SANDY -- A man has been arrested after a six-hour SWAT team standoff at a Sandy home that ended with a robot finding the suspect asleep in his bed.

Authorities say they arrested Eric Grundstrom peacefully early Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and discharging a firearm.

Police say they got a call around midnight that a man living in a basement apartment got into an argument with a person living upstairs.

The man allegedly left the argument and began slashing car tires. When police arrived, they heard a gunshot and retreated.

A police robot with a camera later checked the inside of the apartment and found Grundstrom asleep around 6 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
