Northern Utah air clearing after days of warnings

SALT LAKE CITY -- Clear air is forecast for six Utah counties after multiple days of pollution alerts.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality is declaring a green air day for Box Elder, Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele and Weber counties. The declaration is in place throughout the day Friday.

The Bear River Health Department is also issuing a green air notice for Cache County.

Red and yellow air alerts have been in place for much of the past two weeks. During those bad air days, the elderly, young children and people with lung disorders are encouraged to limit their outdoor activities.

Health officials still encourage people to limit wood burning and driving during green air days to reduce pollution.
