Rodeo clown Slim Garner has bad luck at county fair

The Davis County Fair and rodeo was all about good times, right?

Unfortunately, the smiles were gone sooner than expected for rodeo clown Slim Garner who left Farmington last Saturday night after working the PRCA Rodeo.

As Garner traveled south, his 53-foot trailer caught fire in Southern Utah.

"The fire was in the top deck and that made it impossible to get to it, and I carry black powder for my acts. So I unhooked my truck. By then, the fire was coming through the walls," he told the ProRodeo.com.

The fire destroyed the trailer and all its contents; Garner was able to save only the cast-iron grill he uses for his barbecued chicken act. Gone are the rest of his props: the air taxi, fishing boat, bathtub and all his costumes as well as personal belongings.

The toll reportedly included two roping saddles, two sets of golf clubs, several TVs, rifles and fishing poles, cowboy hats, three pairs of boots, as well as a pair of his father Darrell's baggies from his own rodeo clown days in the early 1970s.

Garner planned to borrow some equipment he had loaned out and work the Norco, Calif., rodeo this weekend, then think about rebuilding.

"I used to call that trailer 'The Largest Toy Box Goin' Down the Road,' " Garner he joked. "Maybe next year we'll call ourselves 'The Crispy Cruisin' Tour.' "

It's official

Well maybe.

Jimmer Fredette tweeted early Friday evening that he is officially engaged to be married.

"I'm officially engaged everyone. She said yes and she was completely surprised! It was perfect!!, the Tweet read.

Of his nearly 54,000 Twitter followers, no word on how many disappointed female BYU fans finally got the message.
