West Haven gas leak resolved without incident

WEST HAVEN -- Firefighters and hazardous material crews responded to what was reported as a propane gas leak Saturday night at 3330 S. Midland Drive.

The leak appeared to be coming from a train car on tracks running near an apartment complex.

After inspecting the car, officials determined some gas escaped through a pressure relief valve. An automatic shutoff mechanism engaged and stopped the release. The train was not the same one with a similar leak on Friday.

As a precaution, three apartment buildings in the complex were temporarily evacuated.
