RANDOLPH-- A 36-year-old man from Evanston, Wyo., has died after he tried to retrieve an untethered boat during an outing at Bear Lake.
Authorities say the man was camping in the Rainbow Cove area south of the Utah-Idaho border when he went into the water Saturday night to catch a boat that was drifting away.
Rich County sheriff's deputies say they got a 911 call around 10:45 p.m., about 20 minutes after the man went into the water.
The man's body was spotted around 8 a.m. Sunday. A dive team recovered it.
Authorities have not yet released the man's name.
KSL-TV reports this is the second drowning at Bear Lake in the past two months. A 12-year-old Boy Scout drowned there in July after a SCUBA diving accident.
