RIVERSIDE — A 19-year-old man died Saturday in a three-vehicle accident in rural Box Elder County.
Logan Fulgham was driving west on State Road 30 in a white Oldsmobile Toronado when he crossed into the eastbound lane, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
He collided head-on with a gray Chevy Trailblazer at Mile Marker 96, which is about five miles east of Riverside, about 5:43 p.m.
The crash caused both vehicles to hit the side of a Ford pickup truck hauling a camping trailer.
Fulgham died at the scene.
“It appears Mr. Fulgham may have suffered a medical condition that caused him to cross over into oncoming traffic,” the UHP said in a news release.
The driver of the Trailblazer, a 34-year-old man from Nibley, had to be extricated from his vehicle and flown to Ogden Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
The four occupants of the truck, two adults and two children, were not injured. However, an 8-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to Bear River Valley Hospital with minor abdominal pain.
Troopers shut down traffic in both directions as they dealt with the fatal crash.
UHP is still investigating the crash, said UHP Sgt. Ted Tingey, although speed and alcohol have been ruled out as factors.
Fulgham was the only one in the accident who was not wearing a seat belt.
