Wyoming wrestler dies
A family member says a Cheyenne, Wyo., high school wrestler who was recovering from a paralyzing accident has died of unknown causes.
Sixteen-year-old Isaac Salas of Cheyenne died Saturday. His grandfather, Jerry Plumley, says the cause of death is under investigation.
Plumley said Monday his grandson became unresponsive and stopped breathing when his mother was taking him home in a van.
He had undergone a procedure at a Cheyenne hospital Saturday to pulverize urinary track stones blocking his catheter.
Salas broke two vertebrae in his neck during wrestling practice at South High School in November.
Plumley says Salas had regained some movement and was learning to walk and feed himself after lengthy stays at The Children's Hospital and Craig Hospital, both in the Denver area.
