CLEARFIELD -- Registration is going on now for Clearfield's citizen emergency response team training, which starts Sept. 20 and goes through Nov. 22.
Classes are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays in the Clearfield Municipal Building, 55 S. State St. No class will be held Nov. 8, Election Day.
Cost for training supplies is $30. Those age 15 years and older may register by calling Clearfield Community Services at 801-525-2790.
During a disaster, the number and scope of incidents can overwhelm conventional emergency services. The worldwide CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training program.
Students learn to manage utilities and put out small fires and treat the three medical killers during an emergency by learning to open airways, control bleeding, provide basic medical aid and more.
