Alvin Bud Anderson

Alvin Bud Anderson of Bear River City celebrated his 80th birthday with his family. Born Aug. 21, 1931, in Richfield to Alvin M. and Clara Snow Anderson, he graduated from Richfield High School in 1950 and served during the Korean War with the Richfield Utah National Guard Field Artillery Battery. During that time, he was under the command of Capt. Ray Cox, where his battery received a Presidential Unit Citation for its extraordinary heroism. He remained active in the National Guard for 21 years, retiring as a major.

In 1953, he married Patricia Ward of Almo, Idaho, and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a master's degree in business management with an emphasis in economics from Utah State University.

In 1961, he moved to Bear River City to be close to his employment with Thiokol/ATK. After 33 years of service, he retired in 1994 as program manager of the MRP2 Program.

He was called as the first bishop of the Bear River LDS 2nd Ward and later called to be a sealer in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple. He has been an avid Scouter all his life and is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

His children and spouses are Susan and Gary Hess, Mark and Kathy Anderson, and Teresa and Reed Rhodes. He has nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He enjoys serving family, church and community. He enjoys his many friendships and says he appreciates and cherishes each one.
