Shoebox Run needs riders and donations

SALT LAKE CITY — The eighth annual Shoebox Run will take place Sept. 17 in the mountains of Northern Utah to promote the collection of 15,000 gift-filled Operation Christmas Child showboxes that are distributed to children in need around the world.

The rally will gather 9 a.m. at Honda of Salt Lake, 2354 S. State St., with a scheduled 10 a.m. departure. It’s being organized by Calvary Chapel of Salt Lake City, a nondenominational, biker-friendly church that’s geared to supporting ministries like Operation Christmas Child. All donations for the shoeboxes are being packaged Nov. 14-21, then sent to Denver and combined with other shoeboxes for international distribution. For more information on Operation Christmas Child, go to www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/index. For more information on the run, contact Jim Harris at 801-264-9999 or jharris@calvaryslc.org. Registration is available online at www.calvaryslc.org.
