SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is finishing a weeklong trip to Washington D.C. and New York City with a meeting at the Interior Department.
Herbert says a focus for the trip that ends Tuesday is recruiting business leaders to promote the advantages of opening or expanding operations in Utah.
Herbert says he is reaching out to executives with ties to the state or that have opened offices in Utah. That includes businesses such as Goldman Sachs or L-3 Communications, both of which are planning to expand their Utah operations.
Herbert has had a series of meetings with Interior officials in which he urged less regulatory burdens on federal lands, especially oil and gas companies.
Along with official meetings, Herbert attended a memorial service at Arlington National Cemetery on Sept. 11.
