Utah State University given $10 million donation

LOGAN -- A Salt Lake City foundation is giving Utah State University a $10 million donation to preserve programs focusing on environmental and wildlife studies.

The Logan Herald Journal reports (http://bit.ly/oz3Wdp ) the donation from the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Foundation will be dedicated to the College of Natural Resources.

Utah State University President Stan Albrecht (AHL'-brehk) says the money ensures the College of Natural Resources will have needed resources into the future.

Albrecht says proposals were made this summer to downsize the college or move departments into other colleges because of funding issues.

Nine undergraduate degrees are offered by the college's three departments, such as forestry, wildlife science and environment. The college also offers 13 graduate programs.
