Motorcyclist survives collision in South Ogden

SOUTH OGDEN — Proper riding gear saved a motorcyclist after he collided with a vehicle on Saturday morning.

The man was riding north in the inside lane of Washington Boulevard when the driver of a Volkswagen, in the outside lane, tried to turn left at 4800 South about 11:40 a.m., said South Ogden Police Sgt. Trent Olsen. The Volkswagen entered the motorcyclist’s lane and quickly slowed down, causing the motorcyclist to clip the back of the car and fall, he said.

“Thank goodness the rider was wearing a helmet and the proper riding gear. That saved him,” Olsen says.

The man was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen told police that he did not see the motorcyclist and was cited for an unsafe lane change, Olsen said.
