SALT LAKE CITY -- Police are continuing a search of the Utah desert as they investigate the disappearance of a mother two years ago.
West Valley City police Sgt. Mike Powell says searchers will spend Monday scouring a remote area around Topaz Mountain in central Utah.
Police stopped excavating Saturday at a spot where cadaver dogs had indicated the possible location of human remains. No remains were found but police did discover charred chips of wood that will be examined by forensics experts.
Susan Powell, no relation to Mike Powell, was 28 when she was reported missing on Dec. 7, 2009, after she failed to show up for work.
Her husband, Josh Powell, is a person of interest in the case but hasn't been arrested or charged.
