FARMINGTON -- It has been 10 years since the fiberglass bison planted on the northwest corner of the Davis County Memorial Courthouse grounds has received a new fashion other than the star-spangled colors it wears.
Time, wind and weather have taken a toll on the bison that was part of the county's 2002 Olympic celebration.
Davis County is now seeking a volunteer artist to help put a fresh coat of paint on the buffalo-sized statue, said Barry Burton, Davis County director of planning.
Burton, who initially painted the buffalo in 2001 for the 2002 games, said the county is requesting individuals or teams to submit sketches, written descriptions or computer generated graphics of what they would propose, along with examples of their artwork.
The artist or artists will receive from the county a $200 stipend to offset the cost of materials, Burton said. But the artist must adhere to specific guidelines as required by the county.
