The entitled are a growing segment of our culture. Government aid subsidizes poor school performance, drug abuse, poverty, dysfunctional families, non-participation in the job market, crime and multi-generational dependency on public assistance. There is good evidence that if the redistribution of wealth were interrupted, rioting would break out in the streets. The evils of the dole may no longer be mentioned in polite society.
"By the sweat of thy brow" is a formula for prosperity. How wise is our present system in contrast to one that fosters personal dignity and the work ethic?
