LAYTON -- The Rev. Dr. Myke Crowder is raising money for two lifelong Joplin, Mo., educators who lost their home in the Joplin tornado. Richard and Joanna Green retired from Joplin School District in 1985 and lived in a small home. Crowder is married to their niece, Marsha.
The Greens were robbed once and had two storm drain-related floods, causing them to lose their homeowner's insurance after being classified as a "poor risk," a news release states.
The tornado destroyed their home and everything in it.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursed the Greens 25 percent of their home's worth. Four months after the tornado, the Greens are struggling to find a way to survive, according to the release.
Christian Life Center is accepting financial donations toward the reconstruction or purchase of a home. For more information, call 801-771-5433, extension 510.
