SALT LAKE CITY -- Police have launched the 11th day of a wide-ranging search of the west Utah desert as they look for signs of a mother missing since 2009.
West Valley City police Sgt. Mike Powell on Thursday said teams of searchers on foot and ATVs have made good progress in the search for Susan Powell.
The then 28-year-old mother of two was last seen at her home in December 2009.
Searchers are scouring the rugged desert near Topaz Mountain for any clues in the case.
The area is 135 miles southwest of West Valley City and about 30 miles south of where Susan Powell's husband told police he went camping with his children in the hours before her disappearance.
Josh Powell has been named the only person of interest in the case.
