CENTERVILLE — Four people were booked into Davis County Jail after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash west of Legacy Highway.
The four are:
• Chester Archuleta, 24, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, booked on one count of failure to respond to an officer’s signal to stop, one count of reckless driving, one count of attempted failure to respond to an officer’s signal to stop and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Drew Tama Morrison, 20, of Taylorsville, booked on one count of attempted failure to respond to an officer’s signal to stop.
• Naisha Rae Story, 24, of West Jordan, booked on one count of theft by receiving stolen goods.
• Samantha Elizabeth Callis, 25, of Farmington, booked on one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Harper said a deputy witnessed an older-model car heading south on Interstate 15 about 7:44 a.m. Friday, just north of Farmington. The car was following other vehicles too closely and was weaving in and out of traffic.
When the deputy attempted to stop the car, the driver took off at high speed down the emergency lane. The driver also cut across the freeway and then exited on Park Lane in Farmington.
At that point, the deputy ended his pursuit because it was endangering other motorists, Harper said.
Harper said at one point speeds exceeded 100 mph. The driver ran a red light at the intersection of Park Lane and then headed onto Legacy Highway.
A Utah Highway Patrol trooper saw the car on Legacy and also attempted a traffic stop, said UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson.
The driver again took off and another chase began. The driver went about 1 1⁄2 miles before the car crashed near Parrish Lane in Centerville, on the west side of the road, Johnson said.
Harper said the driver, who at that point was doing about 65 mph, lost control of the car, crashed through a fence and ended up in a ditch.
The men in the car ran off and eventually were arrested near a pond, officers said.
The women remained in the car and were arrested when officers arrived.
