UVU planning Constitution center after donation

OREM -- Utah Valley University is planning a Center for Constitutional Studies funded by an anonymous $1 million donation.

The Daily Herald of Provo says (http://bit.ly/qXZCrq ) the new center at the Orem university will offer academic opportunities in a field that has international interest when it launches next year.

President Matthew Holland says the donation came from two Utah businessmen and is enough to keep it operating for five years. The university will seek additional private funding or federal grants to operate beyond 2016.

Holland says the center will not promote any political agendas or emphasize particular interpretations of the Constitution.

Vice President of Academic Affairs Ian Wilson says the center will include a constitutional studies minor degree. It will host conferences, sponsor guest speakers and help students find internships.
