Fire department sets annual open house

LAYTON -- The annual Kendall O. Bryant Fire Prevention Awareness Day Open House will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Layton City Fire Station 51, 530 N. 2200 W.

The annual open house is named after firefighter Kendall O. Bryant who died while searching for victims in a house fire on March 31, 2000. He dedicated much of his time to educating children about fire safety.

A live fire demonstration where two similar rooms, one with an automatic fire sprinkler system and one without, will be set on fire. There will be free rides on one of the fire engines. A donation of canned food items for the Family Connection Center Food Bank is suggested.
